This post may be a little late but if you haven’t enrolled your kids in any of the summer offerings, check out some activities you and your kids can engage in while school is out.
Arts and Crafts
Craft MNL offers kids from 8 to 16 years old arts and crafts classes at Powerbooks Greenbelt. Some hands-on activities include Making your own Comic Books, Basic Watercolor, Polymer Clay Miniatures etc. The not so young (crafty or not) can also learn a new skill like Rubber Cut Printing, Gothic Italics Calligraphy (which I am so interested in) etc. Learn something new everyday!
Classes start on April 14, for the kids and April 16 for the adults. Check out CraftMNL and the Podium Summer CraftFest for more details.

Creative Writing
If you have budding wordsmiths at home, take them along with their pens and notebook or should I say laptops, at Writer’s Block Philippines’ Writing workshop for Teens. They can improve their writing skills by learning writing techniques that will help them in their future essays or manuscripts. The one-day class will be on April 23, Thursday from 1-5PM at the UView, Fully Booked, Bonifacio Global City.
They are also opening a writing workshop for Moms like me who want to take their writing to the next level. Join The Professional Writer-Mama Workshop on April 30, 2015. Thursday from 1-5 PM at O2 Space, Unit 330 Mile Long Building, Amorsolo Makati.

Cooking/Baking
Have you seen the TV show MasterChef Junior? The kitchen skills and creativity of those kids are phenomenal! Makes me cringe at how well they prepare those dishes every week plus getting the approval of Gordon Ramsay!
Gone are the days when our Lolas and Aunties drive us out of the kitchen. Now, we encourage our kids to get their hands dirty and smelly too.

Sports
Time to move those bodies this summer. For years now, the Milo Best Summer Sports Clinic has been providing sports enrichment activities for kids. They now have 13 sports programs which include Badminton, Basketball, Bowling, Chess, Football, Gymnastics, Karatedo, Ice Skating, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis and Volleyball. Their Sports Clinics are open not only in the NCR but also in certain areas in Luzon, Visayas, and MIndanao. Check their website for schedule and venues.
These are just some of the many workshops and classes offered to the kids this year. But kids are not the only ones who can enrich their summer days. 🙂 Parents too can dabble in a skill or two while the kids are on break from school. Remember, you’re not too young nor too old to learn something new everyday.
