Staring at a Blank Page

by

A writing instructor once told me that in order to cultivate one’s writing skills, one should just write and write. Write about anything everyday. It doesn’t have to be deep or something spectacular, “Just write anything,” she says. The more one writes, the more inspired one gests. Who knows a simple idea might give birth to a blog post that could boost site traffic or attract comments. Unfortunately, as much as I want to write and add a new post to my blog daily, I can’t. Motherhood beckons me. Life happens.

The past two days had been full with church commitments. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. In fact, I love to serve the Lord in this way. Not only do I get my spiritual feeding weekly  but I also get the privilege to pass it on to my own small discipleship group. I had two emotionally filled/draining days and at the same time I lacked sleep. I was anxious about something last night that I couldn’t sleep. Add to that, a stray dog was lurking around our neighborhood that kept our dog and other dogs barking and howling. Where was Cesar Milan when I needed him? Tssst! Anyway, I am just glad I was able to wake up on time, refreshed and focused to do my Thursday routine.  Late this afternoon, I was just too tired to do anything. I was even to lazy to open my Facebook account. But the kitchen needs its cook, so I had to prepare dinner for the family. Fusilli with Tuna for dinner was quick.

Now I sit in front of my computer, so eager to write. I’m just staring at this blank page with the cursor blinking but I cannot think of what to share with you. I’m just too exhausted to share anything. I am drained. Battery empty. I need to catch some well-deserved zzzz’s to recharge.  Hopefully, more writing tomorrow.

What do you do when it’s difficult to catch the writing bug? Where do you draw inspiration to just “write”? Share with me 🙂
