What I Love About Without Rival
The year 2022 did not end well for me because I was not in a good place. I am better now because of God’s grace, so I don’t want to dwell on that too much. The book Without Rival helped me get back on track.
I received a copy of this book from CSM Publishing last year for a book review, but I didn’t finish reading it. Now, I know why. The Lord made me read it this month as I begin my journey back to Him.
I don’t want to give away a lot in this post because I want you to have your own awakening when you get your copy. I know I did and here are some highlights:
God loves us uniquely rather than equally. Believe me, unique is better.

Pride encourages the worship of self, while humility dethrones the selfishness of pride.

An idol is anything that you give your strength to or draw your strength from.

When we look to others for our affirmations, we will always feel as though we are on the outside looking in…There is no single person who can completely fill the void of affirmation in your life.

God inscribed in your heart: loved, beautiful, valued, intimately known, mine

A favorite part of the book is how Lisa contrasts a wishing well with a deep well. Read about it and let me know if you want to be a deep well or a wishing well. At the end of the book, Lisa tells the story of two women in different seasons. They are women without rivals. They lived an extraordinary life of faith because they know Jesus loves them uniquely.
Conclusion
I highly recommend the book, WIthout Rival, to the woman who:
- Defines herself by the world’s standards, yet finds herself lonely.
- Continues to compete with other women, thinking her achievements would define her.
- Cannot move on from her past and thinks less of herself
- Constantly pleases people for their approval
We were these women. You might be in one of them today. This book may help set you free from all these issues, but you need to do it with Jesus, your savior. He is the only one who can open your eyes and heart to new things. And this new thing is your true identity—you are without rival because the God you belong to is unrivaled.
