Jianne celebrated her 7th birthday in a non-traditional way. Instead of having the usual party, we opted to go the other route. Since Jianne already told me she doesn’t want a big celebration, I tried to convince her otherwise. But she won and we planned an educational yet fun activity for the four of us.
Her birthday fell on a Wednesday, October 2 and I just prepared Tuna Mac and Cheese, Roasted Chicken and Banana Cupcake with Peanut Butter Frosting. I bought her pink balloons too for the home.
That weekend we spent our afternoon at Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa Laguna. We would have wanted a Disneyland trip but we have to consider our budget so maybe next time. Before arriving at EK, we knew beforehand that they had a special rate for teachers but we were surprised that aside from the discounted rate which was 450PHP (regular rate is 600PHP) we also got free snacks, 4 burgers and 4 drinks! They also gave us pins to commemorate National Teacher’s Month. Peewee said he felt great being honored in a simple way.
The following day, we headed to Sta. Elena Fun Farm also in Laguna. The farm is great for families who want to have a feel of the farm life. For a fee of 300 PHP we got to do all sorts of fun activities. We rode a carriage drawn by Chocnut, the resident carabao with its coach, Kuya Arnold. We were able to go around the entire farm and saw the beauty of the place. It was relaxing to see such greenery!. Trees filled every area that I couldn’t help but take photos of them.
Kids got to feed the fat rabbits and guinea pigs too. Birds, ducks and other feathered friends were free to roam anywhere. Peewee and Jianne even rode an equestrian horse! They also spent time fishing for tilapia too. There were obstacle courses within the area for the energetic kids and adults also. Picnic areas are available for families want to have lunch in the farm. The farm is well-maintained that’s why they expect their guests to respect their policy of using only reusable containers. No plastic allowed. Maintain cleanliness at all times.
One thing we noticed too is that there were no mosquitoes at all. Our mosquito repellant was useless in this place. Unfortunately, we were not able to go to Holy Carabao where they sell organic veggies and meat. We will be back, that’s for sure.
My husband and I plant do one activity per month. It may be an out-of-town trip or just a fun exposure for the kids. He says that activities like that stretch the kids’ borders. They learn new things and get exposed to different situations where they can react, respond, be inspired or moved to action.
I am currently planning our next “Stretch activity”…hmmm where could we go next? What activities are you doing to “stretch” your kids?
